Nathan East
Nathan East, a founding member of the iconic jazz group Fourplay, has spent over 40 years collaborating with music legends like Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Stevie Wonder. Known for his genre-defying groove, East has contributed to hits across diverse styles, earning accolades like a Congressional Record for his impact on global music.
After years as a sought-after bassist and sideman, East embraced the challenge of recording a solo album, teaming up with Yamaha Entertainment Group to craft an ambitious project full of heartfelt collaborations. The album features standout moments like a reimagined version of Pat Metheny’s “Letter From Home,” a tender duet of “Yesterday” with his son Noah, and a reworked “101 Eastbound” co-written with his brother Marcel.
Balancing technical precision with emotional resonance, East also delivers stirring tracks like “America the Beautiful” and the playful “Daft Funk,” celebrating his contributions to global hits like Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.” Though labeled a solo album, East sees the project as a collaborative effort that highlights his gift for bringing out the best in others—a gift that continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
